The history of Brohimont

A quiet Countryside Cottage laden with family History

For over 70 years, Brohimont has always been a holiday home designed for gathering and experiencing moments of conviviality. Before becoming a cottage, the estate was a family gathering place where, generation after generation, the tradition of family vacations persisted.

The large house from the 1960s is now renovated and accessible via a secluded path. The cottage has been designed with sustainability in mind, prioritizing natural materials to preserve the environmental balance of this beautiful heritage.

Today, as proud descendants of the du Parc family, we open the doors of the guesthouse built by our grandmother to new guests, offering you the chance to enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty of this special place.

A Gathering Place for the Gatien du Parc Family for Over 70 Years

The Brohimont estate, located in the heart of a preserved forest, was acquired in 1950 by Countess Gatien du Parc Locmaria, born as Baroness Marthe d’Huart.

Situated amidst a lush forest, the manor quickly became her preferred spot, where she rejuvenated in the embrace of nature, engaging in drawing and painting.

Our grandmother had grown up in the castle of Vonêche, on the other side of the valley, but she had been living in Brussels since her marriage to Count Gatien du Parc Locmaria.

While our grandfather dedicated his life to the royal family and to Belgium, our grandmother focused on raising their nine children.

As the du Parc children became parents in their own right, the Brohimont estate over time became the family’s gathering place.

Hospitality and Conviviality as Family Traditions

Every year, as soon as the first beautiful days arrived, Brohimont welcomed the family for holidays. Our grandmother loved her beautiful house where she found solace in the midst of her beloved nature. She dedicated herself to drawing and painting and took turns hosting her many children and grandchildren.

The property was the scene of joyful meetings, where bikes, strollers, and board games came out. Meanwhile, the Countess tended to her vegetable garden and fruit trees, transforming their harvests into jams and preserves.

Soon, Brohimont became too small to accommodate the ever-growing family. Because the children married and, in turn, had children. So, she decided to build what she called the Guesthouse. It was in 1965. Thus, the tradition of family vacations could be perpetuated.

Imbued with all these memories, today we expand the circle of the privileged to offer you a unique opportunity to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty of Brohimont.

What our customers say

Fokke

The stay with 3 families (from young to old) was amazing! What a view, what a lanscape. We did not have to leave the estate, so big and beautiful! The house is very tastefully, comfortably and cleverly furnished. Everything on ground floor (it was too nice weather for table football, upstairs). Pleasant that there is plenty of space and each room also has its own bathroom. We enjoyed.

Antonia

We had a very pleasant stay in Thierry's house. It is very well equipped, and there were toys for the children. We planned in advance in writing and in a folder. Place to receive advice for the surroundings. The house is still brand new and therefore in a modern and great condition!

Evelien

We had a fantastic weekend with 10 girlfriends at the Gîte de Brohimont. The house and the view were fantastic. We enjoyed it!

Perfect! We komen binnenkort terug.

We came as a group of eight, equipped with our bikes, during the first weekend of November. We can only congratulate and thank the hosts, so welcoming, available, and charming! A wonderful place: the silence, the birdsong, the atmosphere, and the scenery of this rare place where you can see so far, where you breathe deeply under the starry sky. The comfort of the rooms, not to mention the multipurpose hall. Best of luck to both of you who are carrying on the family legacy and have so kindly welcomed us into your home, with such simplicity. We loved it

We arrived only after sunset and although house is amazingly renovated with an excellent taste, the most important thing we saw was in next the morning. View from huge windows from living room is inimitable and very calming. House is located in vast private forest so your kids or pets can enjoy it freely. Inside you will find everything you want, with superbly equipped kitchen if you like to cook like I do, a lot of space to rest and private rooms (+ extra helpful stuff for kids like changing table, books in 3 different languages, toys etc). Last but not least, or maybe an icing on the cake, Host Thierry is very helpful, welcoming and talkative person. I am 100% sure we will go back to this place sooner or later. I am extremely happy I've trusted my gut feelings and will recommend this place to friends.
